The First Annual MENAfrica Arbitration Conference will be held from October 11-13, 2014 in Sharjah, UAE, at the Sharjah Arbitration Centre (Tahkeem, in Arabic), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi.
Trade and investment between Africa and the Middle East has grown exponentially over the last decade — and, naturally, so has the number of cross-border disputes, many of which are preventable. The conference is designed to inform industry and legal professionals how best to mitigate risk and assure transactional success in commerce between these two highly dynamic and complex regions.
Conference panels will address such topics such as: negotiating contracts in post-conflict environments, arbitrating construction and infrastructure disputes, arbitration in the context of asset recovery, enforcement of arbitral awards, and non-conventional arbitration mechanisms.
In addition to providing excellent networking opportunities, the event offers participants a choice of highly practical, mini-courses in contracts & arbitration, scenario planning, and best practices in asset recovery. Some of these courses eligible for certificate and continuing-education credit.
